Arrive at the Carson City Depot at 4:30pm. Steam train to The Canyon leaves the Depot at 5:00pm and returns around 6:00pm.


We strongly recommend booking your ticket in Advance. An 8% Historic Preservation fee will be added to each order at checkout. If you’re traveling and don’t have a printer, simply write down your confirmation code and bring it in with you at check-in.

 Directions

FROM RENO: Take HWY 580 heading South toward Carson City. Take “EXIT 39 - HWY 50 East Dayton/Fallon”. Turn left onto HWY 50 East (Williams Street) and drive East exactly 3.4 miles toward Dayton (passing Eagle Valley Golf Course on your left) to just where the center cement barricades end.  Turn right onto Flint Drive, go, exactly .3 miles, turn left onto Eastgate Siding Rd. following the signs to Eastgate Depot.

FROM CARSON CITY: Head East (on Highway 50 towards Dayton) drive exactly 4.9 miles (passing Eagle Valley Golf Course on your left) to just where the center cement barricades end. Turn right onto Flint Drive, go, exactly .3 miles, turn left onto Eastgate Siding Rd. following the signs to Eastgate Depot

 Notes

This activity is handicapped accessible in certain situations but not all. Aisles & doors on the train are 24 inches wide and can accommodate wheelchairs. The 100 year old train and rough wooden boardwalks at Virginia City are wheelchair accessible. Accommodations for scooters are subject to size and weight. Special needs patrons need to make arrangements beforehand.
